CITYSPOON

CitySpoon – Taste of the Nation 5/19/11 by CitySpoon

The official CitySpoon website will be up and running on June 1st. What better way to kick off the site than help support No Kid Hungry in Nevada at Taste of the Nation inside Rain at the Palms. It was a wonderful even filled with great food, great chefs, mixologists, and non the less great supporters all for a great cause. One hundred percent of funds raised went to local Las Vegas beneficiaries Three Square Food Bank, Project Mana, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada, and UNCE Chefs for Kids
Las Vegas is the home of some of the best restaurants in the world, and many of them were at the Palms that evening showcasing their exquisite recipes for food and cocktails in which CitySpoon will share the hottest deals and places throughout Las Vegas for the benefit of the people.
Restaurants including Alize, Island Sushi and Grill, Bradley Ogden, Union Steakhouse, Bar Masa, Roy’s, N9NE Steakhouse, TAO, NOVE Italiano, BOA Steakehouse, Nobu, LAVO, Sushi Roku, Holstein’s, Wazuzu and many more contributed and created the most mouth watering dishes I have ever been in the presence of in one area.
Above is Executive Chef Drew Terp with Bar Masa, which offers a Modern Japenese Cuisine, located in the ARIA Resort and Casino. Chef Terp had prepared Australian Kobe Beef skewers with a yuzu spice among a other flavorful dishes that included the highest grade beef you can get in the United States. Thanks Bar Masa, Delicious!
The pool outside the Palms was surrounded by aroma’s of mojitos, food trucks, and an overwhelming amount of 5 star dishes.
Inside Rain Nightclub, many other unique dishes were being created by a whole bunch of creative and hard working chefs. If I only had enough room in my stomach to try it all, trust me I would have. From dishes that I could not pronounce to red velvet mini cupcakes with cream cheese frosting as well at mini meatball sliders with fried mozzarella and pepperoncinis from Simon’s Restaurant Lounge inside Palms Place there was nothing that I would eat five of.

Rapper turned Reverend by CitySpoon

It’s tricky…Joseph Simmons aka DJ Run aka Rev Run transformed from rapper to a minister and reality TV star. The Run-D.M.C. member shared his inspiring words of wisdom to Las Vegans May 14th and 15th at Central Christian Church. He spoke to old and new fans about his journey to entering fatherhood and becoming the grandfather of hip hop, from getting high to finding God and sharing his positive healthy newfound family life on the hit reality series Run’s House on MTV. The show was originally set to air on ABC until P. Diddy called with a better offer with MTV. Rev Run was skeptical because he wanted to the show to be family oriented, however, it could still accomplish that on MTV. He wanted to show the public the possibilities of reaping the benefits from living a virtuous lifestyle.
Simmons also spoke about the struggles in his own personal life, including the passing of his daughter in 2006 and the adoption of his youngest daughter Miley, now three years old, which he said was one of the best decisions he has ever made.
With over 2 million followers on twitter, Rev Run tweeted about finishing speaking at 5 services Sunday and will perform at Lavo nightclub inside the Palazzo on Wednesday the 18th. With the energy and comical relief Rev Run expressed in the church, it can only be imagined what he can do in a nightclub. Nonetheless, the rapper turned Reverend still knows how to get down.
