I just saw Bridesmaids last week and thought it was absolutely hysterical, like pee myself in the theater hysterical. Between the disastrous diarrhea scene to getting completely obliterated on a flight to Vegas and kicked off the plane, the ladies in Bridesmaids made me laugh until I cried. Some may even refer to it as the female version of the Hangover, I don’t know if I would necessarily say that but I did find it equally as funny. So we shall see this Thursday (5/26) when the Hangover II premiers nation wide what Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, Ed Helms and Mike Tyson can bring to the big screen this go around. It’s a little unfortunate, judging from the trailer, that the stomping grounds will not be in good ol’ Sin City, however they needed to to go global which I can understand…taking it to a different level. This should make for interesting situation for the fellas. And how appropriate that it is premiering Memorial Day Weekend. Judging from the trailer there is bound to be some “ohhhhh sh**” moments.

I usually get pretty overwhelmed at buffets because I want the food and I want all of it. However, upon my arrival at the Wicked Spoon I was certain to have a full blown panic attack. The maze of delectable salads, entrées, meats, soups, fish…and I haven’t even gotten to the desserts yet. I usually try to scope out the entire buffet first, and then make a very wise, well thought out, strict plan of execution. Why do I do this? A. Because I like to execute and make a plan for anything. B. Because I want to make sure that I get to try everything I want…and as I stated earlier, I usually want it all. and C. I like to have an order in which I eat food, ya know soup-salad-appetizer-entrée-dessert. Some people like to start with a dessert. Not me, but I don’t judge, to each their own. So, as soon as a carefully constructed my strategy I went for it. Inducing myself in a serious food coma. I started with a warm goat cheese salad, grilled asparagus salad, and watermelon with a hint of mint and cucumbers. I nibbled away vigorously and was quick to head back as though they were going to take the food away. I felt I should have prepared myself better for this marathon, and by prepare I mean grow 6 extra arms just to carry all of my food plates. I ate the most amazing corn on the cob with melted butter and some sort of grated cheese (strange, I might have to say this was one of my favorite items) I also grabbed two tacos, seafood jambalaya, pork ribs, a single serving of eggs benedict, gooey french toast with fresh blueberries and syrup, sweet delicious bacon (which I ate before I even made it back to my table), macaroni and cheese with little fried chicken wings, general tso’s chicken with fried rice (also my favorite) and some garlic gnocchi which melted in my mouth. Now, I did not write those in the order I ate them but I did eat all of them and at this point still had not made my way to the dessert section. This picture above shows the seafood jambalaya with delicious oysters I could have eaten all day. And below is a preview of what is to come in regards to the dessert section, in which further induced my food coma almost to the point of being in a complete blackout, I wasn’t sure what I was eating, but I do know it did involve some giant chocolate covered strawberries.
Although I will admit I am not a huge fan of sweets and would much rather eat an extra piece of sushi or 5, these desserts could not be ignored. There was a gelato bar in which served a variety of flavors in a small glass or waffle cone depending on how much room you had left in your stomach. I helped myself to a serving of peanut butter and jelly flavored with salted peanuts. There really aren’t words to do that flavor justice, it was simply amazing and a perfect ending to my wonderful 23 dollar buffet. Hats off to the Wicked Spoon.
I will be back to spoon again soon!

It’s official today at 1:40pm Sahara closed it’s doors today. 20 minutes ahead of schedule. It’s a sad day when workers are hugging and saying their “goodbyes” and “good lucks.” The last guests checked out at noon. Sahara was also put on the map from the Rat Pack and Sinatra. It had so much nostalgia of Old Vegas. They even have a street named after it.
Man Vs Food had the Nascar Cafe with the 2 foot burrito. Adam takes on one of Sin City’s wildest food creations: The Big Badass Burrito at the NASCAR Cafe. This monster is loaded with beef, vegetables, nacho cheese, and topped with scoops of sour cream and guacamole.
I didn’t frequent the Sahara, but I remember being 10 years old and the old Sahara being my first trip to Vegas, that’s where my family and I stayed. My uncle would get wicked deals from it. My cousins and I would get quarters to play video games, and once in a while we snuck a quarter into a machine to gamble. Then we’d do the touristy walk around and eat thing. We would end up back at the room renting a movie till us kids passed out and the aunts, uncles and parents would sneak off to feed the Vegas economy.
Yes folks the Sahara is no longer open for business. The end.

It’s tricky…Joseph Simmons aka DJ Run aka Rev Run transformed from rapper to a minister and reality TV star. The Run-D.M.C. member shared his inspiring words of wisdom to Las Vegans May 14th and 15th at Central Christian Church. He spoke to old and new fans about his journey to entering fatherhood and becoming the grandfather of hip hop, from getting high to finding God and sharing his positive healthy newfound family life on the hit reality series Run’s House on MTV. The show was originally set to air on ABC until P. Diddy called with a better offer with MTV. Rev Run was skeptical because he wanted to the show to be family oriented, however, it could still accomplish that on MTV. He wanted to show the public the possibilities of reaping the benefits from living a virtuous lifestyle.
Simmons also spoke about the struggles in his own personal life, including the passing of his daughter in 2006 and the adoption of his youngest daughter Miley, now three years old, which he said was one of the best decisions he has ever made.
With over 2 million followers on twitter, Rev Run tweeted about finishing speaking at 5 services Sunday and will perform at Lavo nightclub inside the Palazzo on Wednesday the 18th. With the energy and comical relief Rev Run expressed in the church, it can only be imagined what he can do in a nightclub. Nonetheless, the rapper turned Reverend still knows how to get down.
